World Earth Day Celebration with Green Carnival Games 2017 from All ICAT Campus
"The Price of Greatness is Responsibility."
- Winston Churchill
We insist our students to reach great heights by taking up responsibility in various issues, which includes responsibility towards our environment. With respect to instilling such a responsibility, we celebrated World Earth Day 2017 with an aim of creating environmental awareness among people through our 'Green Carnival Games'. As per our curriculum, which binds techniques & ethics, technology & morality, and software & humanity, we showcased carnival games of our Year 1 Game Design and Development students and Game Programming students at different places, Guindy Children’s Park -Chennai, Dr. Rajkumar Park - Bangalore, Jalavihar Waterpark-Hyderabad on 22 & 26 April, 2017.
The games created an understanding on many concerns of the universe like space debris, air pollution, water pollution, destruction of bio diversity and so on, in a fun-filled way. Many adults and kids played, enjoyed and gave their valuable feedback on the games for our students to improvise.
The carnival game showcase taught the students what small steps they can take as Techies to save nature. It was also a great eye opener for the students towards understanding how audience react for each gaming idea they had originally conceived. This is sure to help them churn up audience-friendly games that would be of great success in the future.
Student's Feedback:
"It was good experience to launch our own games directly among the audience. First, we did not realise the excitement that was waiting, but when public came to play our games it was very interesting, exciting and honouring too. It was the first time we got to interact with the public and it was a great experience." Harish Raj L4-GDD
"The Green Carnival showcase was a huge success. The audience present there enjoyed our games and appreciated our efforts on making the games. Both adults and kids had a great time playing the games and gave their valuable feedback. Local Forest Officers had also come to watch the games and commended our games.
