The Bachelor's Degree in Photography at ICAT is a full-time program that empowers one to practice any promising genre in photography, acquire the best optimal skill set, and start a career as a specialist photographer.

Semester - I
  • Language Practical (Tamil / Hindi / French) - I
  • Language Practical - English-I – Prose and Communication Skills
  • The foundation to produce best photography works lies on the skills to visually communicate. This module addresses this basic skill by introducing students to communication, drawing and design methodologies (visual form).

  • Practical understanding about the underlying principles and elements of design, and colour psychology is provided in this module

  • Design & Photography Practice (Practical)
  • Visual Communication Methods (Practical)
Semester - II
  • Language Practical (Tamil / Hindi / French) - II
  • Language Practical - English-II – Prose, Extensive Reading and Communication Skills
  • Enabling students to analyse practical studio lighting problems during production is the goal of this module. The students here develop a firm understanding of concepts and methods used in lighting.

  • Advance understanding of concepts, methods and tools used in studio production of imagery/images is provided in this module. It develops student’s ability to independently plan and develop strategies for creating the best images.

Semester - III
  • Language Practical – English - III - Communicative Skills
  • The students here are taught to conceive and analyse conceptual ideas, and practice to illustrate the ideas through photographs. They develop the ability to put forward their ideas by using their best visual communication and photography skills in such a way that the audience are able to easily interpret the intended idea

  • The genre of documentary photography is dwelled through in this module. It guides students to explore the different techniques of documentary photography and build their problem-solving skills to produce a finished piece of work

  • This module introduces the way of storytelling in a film, basics of film language, film production and basics principles of using a motion camera. It develops students’ ability to direct a film or documentary.

Semester - IV
  • Language Practical - English – IV – Employability Skills
  • This module significantly increases the students’ skills to help them produce expert work of commercial standards. It guides students to explore various leading photographers’ works and ideas in which constructed imagery is used.

  • This module develops students’ ability to use studio lights and digital imaging techniques. The practice they take up with industry-standard software increases their confidence and expertise in the use of underpinning knowledge.

Semester - V
  • This module is aimed to provide a brief knowledge on effective business communication and techniques, business strategies, innovations, project budgeting, timely implementation of beneficial project plans and policies improving business partnerships.

  • This module builds the students’ ability to develop their design and presentation skills by producing a range of specialist work.

  • This module is designed to guide students to work on a research-based project, where students get to implement their visualisation skills in creating design for a particular brief.

  • In this module, students will work on a live project in a Design Studio environment / a similar organization, where they seek hands-on experience in research and product development.
