Origami Workshop 2020 @ ICAT, Bangalore
Japan Habba is an Indo-Japanese Cultural exchange event held annually in Bangalore. It has over the years become the biggest celebration of Japanese culture in India. The event was hosted by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in Jan this year. As a part of it, they conducted an origami workshop at IISc Bangalore. iCAT Design & Media College delegation of four to include Madura B. K, Sachin Anandan , Yassa Zubair( Faculty Members ) & Poornima ( Student, working on theme ‘anatomy’) took part in the event.
The workshop started with basic techniques of involved in origami and as participants learnt, they gave the knowledge of making basic structures as well as difficult forms. This was followed by an activity of memory painting using Japanese black ink. Origami is an art form that provides both mental and physical stimulus with exercise. It helps develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and mental concentration. Use of the hands directly stimulates areas of the brain. Origami is also traditionally used in various therapeutic settings, including art therapy and in stroke and injury rehabilitation.
