Workshop on New Illustration Techniques 2019 @ ICAT, Chennai

The Department of Multimedia organized a session “New Illustration Techniques” on 30/11/2019. This session was presented by Ms. Harshini working at Freshworks as a senior graphic designer. Students from UG and PG batches of final year students participated in the session. She started the session with how illustrations are evolved, how photographs have been replaced by simple and beautiful illustration art. She had shared few points like, in olden days how ideas & stories, were expressed only by using texts. After some period of time, how those will be paired with some sort of visual representation like hand drawings or sketches to create an interest for the readers.

Currently, illustrations play a major role in every design in the digital and modern industry. The illustration is a simpler way of expressing more abstract or complex ideas that can get transferred into a simple art form. The modern trends of illustrations really make the people get more involved or engaged with the content delivered to them. Usage of illustrations into a design is really challenging and no boundary exists for an artist's imagination. Finally, she explained to students about current demand and job opportunities for illustrator artists in top MNC companies. The main reason to conduct this session is to make the students aware of various new illustration techniques currently used in the industry and incorporate those new techniques into their projects.
