Workshop on “Fashion Photography & Studio Lighting” 2016 @ ICAT

In continuation of the previous fashion workshop from Makka studios, ICAT Design & Media College arranged a 2-day “Fashion Photography & Studio Lighting” workshop by Mr. Prateek Singhi for the UG Photography students.

The goal of this workshop was to educate the students in studio lighting and how to manage a team during a fashion shoot. Mr. Prateek made students observe and read, not to mention the chance to talk about their own thoughts.

On the first day, students were trained to acquire strong fundamental skills in photography lighting and to fine tune their skills towards becoming successful Fashion Photographers. A live shoot was arranged, in which the students were allowed to direct a professional female model and to work with professional Stylists and Makeup Artists.

On day two, the students were motivated to use props as part of Fashion Photography and to face the challenges in seamlessly lighting them. At the end of the session, Mr. Prateek complimented the students for their effort and experimental access, and also indicated the areas of improvement in their way of capturing.

Student's Feedback:

"Being my first Studio Lighting workshop in my college, it was quite exciting to see the creative team like the Models, Makeup Artist, Hair Stylist and Fashion Photographer, Mr. Prateek Singhi. I had good time interacting with the team and learnt how to make a model pose for my camera. Mr. Prateek thought us how to light the scene based on the mood and how to bring expression. I was able to take two fashion photos, which were appreciated and reviewed for improvement by the guest lecturer. On the second day, we were allowed to create our own concept on fashion using props and art direction which was very exciting. Overall, the 2 day workshop by Mr. Prateek was great to practice and experiment with lights and set design. " Mustafa M, UG Photography
