Webinar on Watercolor Painting 2021 @ ICAT, Bangalore
The Animation Department of ICAT Design and Media College, Bangalore conducted a webinar on Water Color Painting on 8th December. The Guest Artist was Mr. Shivaraj Kammar who was the winner of the State Level Painting Competition. He illuminated the student with the knowledge of well-executed painting techniques to show the inner essence of the subject.
Shivaraj Kammar (Painting artist) started the session by explaining how to start Portrait Painting. He made the students understand by giving demonstrations. He himself formulated sketches, giving the base foundation to his painting, and even explained what the best practice to use watercolors is, and how to create different watercolor methods and techniques.
He instructed: "watercolor is a very different medium as compared to oil and acrylic colors. It is a reverse method. However, we have to move from light tones to dark tones. First one has to create light tones and then go to mid-tones and dark tones."
He placed a well-executed portrait right in front of the students reflecting a good gesture and pose. The portrait was very alluring as it was conveying some deeper meanings. He also provided the students some tips to keep a neutral expression and balance it by placing it in a good lighting condition, making sure that he placed the character with proper highlight and shadow covering him. He instructed how to get the base colors, leaving highlight areas, and adding darker tones, making it a complete watercolor paint.
The session was very arousing and it caught the good attention of each and every student. They waited till the end to see how he had matched the painting and dimensions exactly and his techniques of Mastery.
