Webinar on Sustainable - Product, Planet and Profit by Ms. Neha Rao 2021 @ ICAT, Bangalore

Fashion Design department Of ICAT Design and Media College, Bangalore, organized an International Webinar on “Fashion Conscious to Fashion Conscience” from 16th to 18th September 2021. It was a 3-day webinar which focused on bringing out awareness on the path from fashion conscious to fashion conscience. The resource person for session 2 of 16th Sep 2021 was Ms. Neha Rao. The topic of the session was “Sustainable - Product, Planet and Profit”.

Ms. Neha Rao is currently working as Head at Hemp Fabric Lab (HFL) & is the founder of the brand ‘SOOT’. HFL is a textile division under the Bombay Hemp Company (BOHECO). Through this platform, she wanted to explain about how hemp textiles benefit the environment and its incredible properties. She focused on sustainability principles, green washing and circular economy. Ms. Neha Rao shared the concept and fundamentals of SOOT and HFL. The overall work process of her company was discussed and the participants were encouraged to support sustainability and to adhere to its principles. The session included a survey to self-analyze the ecological footprint depending on the lifestyle basis of all participants. She also explained how to make profit without harming the planet. She ended the session with a beautiful inspiring quote – “Small conscious changes are better than none at all”.

Overall the session was appreciated and valuable feedback was received. As a token of gratitude from the Department of Fashion Design, ICAT Design and Media College, a sapling was planted in the name of resource person – Ms. Neha Rao.
