Webinar on Fashion Conscious to Fashion Conscience by Mr. Anantha Sayanan 2021 @ ICAT, Bangalore

Fashion Design department Of ICAT Design and Media College, Bangalore, organized an International Webinar on “Fashion Conscious to Fashion Conscience” from 16th to 18th September 2021. It was a 3-day webinar which focused on bringing awareness on the path from fashion conscious to fashion conscience. The resource person for session 2 of 17th Sep 2021 was Mr. Anantha Sayanan. The topic of the session was “Fashion Conscience”.

Mr. Anantha Sayanan is the Co-founder of Tüla. Through this platform, he wanted to express the need for people to switch to fashion conscience. He explained the industrial value chains which covered the types of pollution occurring at all levels, less value for the workers and the use of toxic, manipulative, chemicals in the product manufacturing process. He also explained the distributed-ness of the economy of the fashion industry. He focused on the importance of supporting the product that is handmade, artisanal, distributed economy, empowering local livelihood, decentralized and small scale industries. He gave various alternatives to be ethical, eco-friendly, economical, empowered and environmentally concerned. Sir concluded the session with a quote that – “Sustainable is Fashionable”!

Overall the session was appreciated and valuable feedback was received. As a token of gratitude from the Department of Fashion Design, ICAT Design and Media College, a sapling was planted in the name of resource person – Mr. Anantha Sayanan.
