Webinar on Apparel Industry – Current Scenario & Business Opportunities 2021 @ ICAT, Bangalore

Fashion Design Department, ICAT Design and Media College, Bangalore, organized a webinar on “Apparel Industry – Current Scenario & Business Opportunities” on 16th July 2021 at 4:00 PM for II, IV & VI Semester students. The Eminent speaker was Mr. Deekshith Babu K, Senior Business Analyst, MBA (Strategy Analytics) IIM, Trichy. The speaker focused on the current scenarios of the apparel industry and as to how to develop a business plan for the same. Mr. Deekshith Babu highlighted the factors which are contributing to the growth in domestic and export markets with respect to the demographic segmentation. Adding to the topic of the webinar, the strong brand – manufacturer relationships helping the Indian exports to the USA on the longer term was explained in brief with the examples. The brand penetration of how the industry growth would be characterized by increasing the brand competitiveness. The enlightening part was the impact the apparel/textile sector has on the environment and India’s contribution to the same with respect to the consumption of energy and the increasing carbon intensity. Few labels that cater to sustainable fashion and the government initiatives were briefed in detail.

The session was fruitful and informative; the students were educated on how the textile/apparel industry impacts throughout the world and how to initiate a business plan amidst all the current situations.

It was a very good opportunity for the students to begin their careers in this area.
