Vist to IFFI International Film Festival 2019 from ICAT, Chennai
The department of Visual Effects students, ICAT, Chennai visited the IFFI International Film Festival on 20th to 28thNovember 2019, a celebration of cinema, which invites creators, critics, movie lovers and university students to explore its different dimensions.
The main vision of the IFFI is to bring different films together, short films, and PSA (public service advertising) from different film genres. from animation to experimental documentary, and those selected for their high technical quality and the stories.
Some of the noticeable films the students watched were “Beanpole” a Russian movie, "First love"a Japanese film directed by Takashi Miike and produced by Misako Saka, both of them were there for the screening and gave some inputs on the film, and also watched "You will die at 20". The students also attended a Master class session about editing and cinematography done by John Baily and Carol Littleton who had worked on movies like “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”- 1982, “Silverado” - 1985, “ The Accidental tourist”-1998, “ Body heat” - 1981 etc.
Apart from the main festival the students also enjoyed the local blissful beauty of the Goa city, like Vagator beach, Aguada fort and a fun filled boat ride at Cocoa beach to watch dolphins, Anjuna rock and many other places. The students had a long walk on the beach enjoying the evening sun and the night light along the edge of the seashore. The evening shopping with the localite was even more interesting and understanding the traditions and the mixed culture of whole of India We also happen to do some shopping. At the end when the students finally reaching Chennai they felt “Physically reached Chennai but mentally stuck up at Goa, with memories to fill a lifetime”.
