Seminar on Making of Maatraan 2012 @ ICAT, Chennai

In the Seminar held at ICAT, Chennai on 19th November, 2012, saw Mr. V.Srinivas Murali Mohan, an Indian visual effects designer who is known for his works in S. Shankar films (Endiran-Robot & Shivaji – the Boss). He is the founder and CEO of the Indian Artists Computer Graphics. He has been working in the Indian film, visual effects department from the year 1996. He has also received three National Film Awards in Special Effects.

Mr. Srinivas Mohan, VFX supervisor of Mattran explained in the seminar, the numerous difficulties he and his team had faced to produce the effects. Unlike other Indian films it has adopted a completely different pipeline to create the extraordinary effects. Maattran thus became the first Indian film to use performance capture technology.

Mattran is an inspiration from the true story of Thailand based Siamese twins Ying and Sang.“ Students were also shown the working process of the effects used in the movie, he discussed further about other international movies which have used the similar technique. Preliminary drawings were also shown as the part of the seminar

It was very useful for the students that he shared his wisdom that to make a sustainable career in VFX , a budding artist needs to know the concepts before he learns the tools.
