Seminar on the Importance of Portfolio 2019 @ ICAT, Chennai

All final year UG & PG students of ICAT Design and Media College, Chennai campus, took part in a seminar on the importance of portfolio, on 16th October, 2019. The seminar was conducted by Mr. Manoj Paul, Creative Director, R R Donnelley (Asia Pacific region), as two sessions to accommodate all students. Mr. Manoj, whose career in design, spans over three decades, stressed upon the importance of portfolio as the most important factor in getting a job for freshers. He used the metaphor of going on an adventurous journey with the process of portfolio preparation and the professional adventure that lay ahead for them. He explained illustrations and technical terms related to backpacking and camping in his presentation to make the point.

From the very beginning of the session, Mr. Manoj made it a interactive session by asking students pertinent questions and this encouraged them to freely interact with him. Mr. Manoj amiable answered and clarified all their queries. It was lively and inspirational.

Finally the session ended with his punch line “If you don’t have a portfolio, then start one today”.
