Seminar on Documentary Photography 2019 @ ICAT, Chennai

The Department of Visual Media of ICAT Design and Media College, Chennai conducted the “Documentary Photography (Kenya)” seminar for B.Sc. students on 14th Nov. 2019 by Mr. Ranga Prasad, Freelance and Chief Photographer at weddingz.in by OYO.

The main objective of this session was to introduce the concept of Documentary Photography to the students and for them to understand the very essence and aesthetics of this genre. The guest engaged the students with various images clicked by him on his trip to Kenya last year. The pictures were the perfect examples of the value of photography. To make the session more interesting and interactive, he also shared his experiences from his trip.

By the end of the seminar the students were well exposed to the ideology and working of Documentary Photography. He also mentioned that a documentary need not be complicated and the real essence lies in simplicity. Before going, he taught us a very important lesson: “Less is more.”
