Seminar on Character Design 2023 @ ICAT, Chennai

Department of Multimedia organized Character Design seminar on 21st January 2023. The speaker of the session is Mr. Kandhaswamy (Asset Supervisor@PhantomFX). He started the session with a brief explanation and display of his portfolio works and discussed the process of creating them. Following that he started a demo sketching using wacom and photoshop on how to create any character from inspirations and mood boards. He explained to students about the importance of having a vision and turning it into a character sketch. After showing the process of character design, he encouraged the students to try out some quick sketches based on an image reference he displayed. Finally, students were having a good interaction with him as well; students showed their sketches to him and got lots of inputs to develop their character design and concept arts skills. The session ended with some QA regarding the industry and roles of an artist.
