ICAT Organizes "Sand Art and Live Sketching" Event at Marina Beach 2015 from ICAT, Chennai
The department of Media at ICAT, Chennai organized a “Sand Art and Live Sketching” event on 15 October, 2015, at Marina Beach, Chennai. The event was organized to commemorate the 84th birth anniversary of Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and celebrate the International Students’ Day.
The theme of the Sand Art and Live Sketching event was: Many Faces of Dr. Kalam. About 100 students from different departments of ICAT, Chennai participated in the event and showcased their skills to convey that they are working towards Dr. Kalam’s dreams. The students of Media divided into five different groups and each group created a unique sand sculpture of the former president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The students of the VFX department did live sketching of the beautiful beach and the environment around.
Large number of people gathered to see the five exotic sand arts depicting different faces of Dr. Kalam. The people also enjoyed the five live sketches that our students created on the spot. Overall, it was a fresh and overwhelming experience for the students to showcase their talents directly to the public and receive appreciations from the public. The students were also honored by leading publications and broadcast media that covered the event.
