Photography Students Tour to Nepal 2017 @ ICAT

The Photography Students of ICAT Design & Media College experienced a great move from a familiar culture to an unfamiliar one during their 12-days visit to Nepal from 10th to 22nd of December, 2017, with a huge group of 61 students.

The main objective of this trip was to introduce students to new weather conditions, cuisines, language, manners, and behaviors – which will take a new challenge on them, teach them how to slowly get used to it, and help them apply their photography skills during travel. In fact, the students experienced culture shock, which put them into new perspective and made them a better photographer.

During the twelve-day trip, the students enjoyed photographing the landscapes of the snow mountain Annapurna at Pokhara and people portraits in Pashupatinath Temple at Kathmandu. The students had an exciting experience, as they climbed to World Peace Center, took pictures of landscapes and nature.

On the trip, the students were accompanied by the renowned Travel Photographer and Writer Mr. Saurabh Chatterjee, who guided the students on travel and photography subject matters. He discussed important topics with the students during their review session every evening.

Some of the other destinations the students visited for photography are Lumbini, Vindhyavasini Temple, Mahendra Cave, Davis Fall and Bridge. An early morning visit to Nagarkot for beautiful Sunrise view from Mount Everest was a great experience to the students. During the last two days, the students got an opportunity to photo document the life of villagers and animals at the Chitwan National Park, a highly-recognized forest and wildlife sanctuary in South-East Asia.

Overall, it was a great experience for the Photography students getting to know people with different backgrounds and perspectives, which help them to develop a more open mind and prepare for better photography opportunities ahead.
