Photography Students Get their Best Shots at Himalayas 2015 from ICAT, Chennai & Bangalore
A Photography tour to the Himalayan region, along with an enthralling Himalayan Winter Trekking was organized by the ICAT Design & Media College for the UG Photography students. 27 students from Chennai and Bangalore campus participated in the trekking event. During the ten-day trip (14 to 25 December, 2015), the students enjoyed photographing the landscapes of snow mountain and street portraits of Sankri village. They relished the break of the day and afternoon mountain trekking from Sankri base camp to Jadu Ka Talab (9150 ft), and the marvels at the frozen Juda lake. The students had an exciting experience, as they climbed to Lohasu Talao and Hargaon.
Along with capturing the beauty of mountain landscapes, the students interacted with the people from various other states who were part of the same trekking group. The most challenging and highlighting part of the trekking was to reach the Kedharkanth summit (12500 ft), amidst the snow, wind and rugged mountain paths. Viewing the landscape from the summit was mesmerizing and it gave the best shots to the students. Trekking down from the Kedharkanth summit to Hargaon camp was an unforgettable experience for the students.
The students had their best learning about preparing for travel photography and landscape photography. They understood how to influence people to get the best portrait shots and got hands-on experience on using the equipments for landscape photography.
Overall, it was a great experience for the Photography students. It was a perfect break from their routine and was a great learning to support their academics.
