Onam celebration 2022 @ ICAT, Bangalore
Onam Festival is the most famous festival celebrated in Kerala,India. The harvest festival of Kerala also called the festival of rain flowers is a ten-day long festival celebrated with fervor across Kerala. It is celebrated during Chingam (a month in Malayalam calendar) that usually starts between mid-August and lasts up to mid-September.
Onam festival is celebrated to honor King Mahabali who visits “Kerala” at the time of Onam. Kerala opens up with an entirely new world of an exotic taste,exquisite fragrances, and an enchanting display of beauty for the tourists when Onam is being celebrated. The festivities and celebration at the festivals make your soul and body dance with the exciting beats of music. Onam was celebrated in Icat on 19 / 08/ 2022. The college entrance and the lobby were decorated with pookalam (a floor art with petals of various colored flowers). All the staff and students were asked to come in traditional attire.
The program began with welcoming of Mahabali Chakravarthy with chenda-melam, thalappoli, onappottan, kummattikali. The teaching faculties,and students attended the program at the multipurpose hall. Cultural events were presented from each batch which also included the iconic dance form –the thiruvaathira kali and other dances associated with the state of Kerala and its heritage. Vanjipattu was presented by Ist year VFX Department students hailing from Kerala..
The event was arranged and coordinated by the Aarapo team. They enjoyed it throughout and students had a different experience. The day was engaged in various games, for instance the Vadam-vali or Tug of war was one of the most interesting and awaited games for students. And the day ended with distributing Ada Payasam.The moment of enjoyment of dance ,singing maveli were precious.
