Makar Sankranti Celebration 2021 @ ICAT, Bangalore

Makar Sankranti also known as Tai Pongal, Uttarayan, Sankranti, Magha,  Mela, Maghi, Ghughuti, Bhogi, Bihu, Lohri etc is celebrated across the country with anticipation of the new harvesting season to commence. This celebrates the solar cycle and it is believed that the winter season tends to ease its grip after this festival. Though the festival is named differently it has a common spirit and each region has special dishes made and offered prayers and celebrations are held to celebrate the event.

ICAT Design & Media College, Bangalore celebrated the festival on the campus on 15th  Jan 2021. The festival was celebrated splendidly by decorating the campus with rangoli, sugarcane & preparing sweet Pongal according to south Indian tradition. Staff was asked to come to campus in traditional attire. The celebration concluded with the serving of Prasad i.e. sweet Pongal to all staff & students with a group photograph.
