Kannada Rajyotsava Celebration 2022 @ ICAT, Bangalore
Karnataka Rajyotsava, also known as Karnataka Formation Day or Karnataka Day, is celebrated to commemorate that day in 1956 when all the Kannada language-speaking regions of southwestern India merged to form the state of Karnataka. ICAT Design and Media College celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava on 11th November 2022 in the campus. It was celebrated with great pleasure, delight, and dynamism. Prayers and pooja offered to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari marked the beginning of the events. The Karnataka state flag was hoisted by the college principal followed by lamp lighting and a few singing performances by ICAT staff members and students. Principal, Mr. G.V Narayan Swamy addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of the day and the Kannada language. The drums added to the already prevailing energy and vigour. The theatrical dance-art form famously performed in Coastal Karnataka, Yakshagana was also performed on the day of celebration. An exhibition was also set up as part of the event that gave a glimpse into the tradition, culture, heroic figures, monuments, and vegetation of the land of Karnataka. The augmented reality presented in the exhibition aroused curiosity and aweness in every single mind. Lunch was served to every student and faculty member, where the main course included vegetable rice, curd rice, and a sweet dish, Kesari. Many fun games were also organized by ICAT Cultural committee. The indefatigable spirit of ICAT Art and Design committee and students helped to decorate the campus with their innovative ideas and skills. The energy, enthusiasm and traditional looks added to the vibrancy and beauty of the event.
