Jour de la moda - Fashion Founder’s Day Celebration 2019 @ ICAT, Chennai

On 14th, October 2019 the Department of Fashion Design, ICAT, Chennai have celebrated Fashion Day - "Jour de la moda". A fashion show was conducted at the start of the event which was based on different types of sarees in india. The event was called “Six yard Splendor” and was started by a small history of sarees and names of various sarees in india. A beautiful collection of sarees were worn and modeled by students.

All the students and faculties from various departments had graced the event and they were given a tour of the displays. Students had done wall painting spanning the entire floor. The final year students had showed their knowledge skill set through these displays, which consisted of embroidery technique frames, wall draping using fabric, fashion illustrations, weaving techniques, doodles and abstract art. They had also showcased project works such as specialized textile techniques, knitwear, which were all complemented by the beautiful geometric wall art, mermaid painting, a wall of fame of the department, photoshoots of their works, pop art and fashion quotes. The creative side of the students with knowledge was there for people to see and embrace. Some of the weaving loom, block printing were demonstrated live.
