Industry Visit to BOT VFX 2019 from ICAT, Chennai

On Monday, 4th February 2019, 12 students from VFX department and 7 students from Multimedia department from ICAT Design and Media College, went for an industrial guided tour at the production facilities of BOTVFX; a leading post- production studio in the development of VFX, located at the city of Chennai.

The objective of this visit was for the students to know the ways of detecting quality and variability problems, as well as identifying the productivity indices of a studio to analyze and interpret factors that affect the improvement of production processes. The students also observed what measures the company takes in terms of employee knowledge sharing, activities and environmental protection, because BOTVFX is a recognized Production studio in the VFX industry, which has the best regulations and official standards in quality management systems.

As part of the Industrial Visit, students had the opportunity to have a brief understanding tour in the areas of Rotoscopy, Paint/ Prep, Match Moving, 3D Asset creation and also the working culture. During the tour of each facilities the HR Ms. Priyanka shared the success stories of professionals, and also asked the students to share their aspirations and aspirations about the VFX industry. Respective Heads of each individual departments shared their personal and professional experience into the VFX industry. Mr. Zameer the creative head shared his knowledge and initiated with a shot question and answer session for the students for which the person who answered right is given a gifts as a token of appreciation.

On the whole, it was a good experience for the students, which allows them to know first-hand the professional opportunities that they can access once they finish their degree program. These industrial technical visits represent an opportunity for students to have direct contact with the company and access other benefits such as pre-professional training, job vacancies and even develop research topics in the functional areas of the company.
