Industrial Visit to Coimbatore and Ooty 2021 from ICAT, Chennai

The students of 2nd year & 3rd year UG were taken on an educational trip to Coimbatore and Ooty. The students got a chance to meet the industry professionals of KG Denim and observe the real workstations and the assembly lines. Each student got a chance to have hands-on experience of production of denim right from fabric to final product in terms of kids denim, denim shorts, skirts, trousers etc. They did understand the process from laying of fabric, pattern marking, cutting, ticketing, sewing, washing, labeling and packaging. They also observed the different finishes and types of washes done on denim. They also got an opportunity to interact with the Toda tribes and gathered knowledge about their traditions and the origin of Toda embroidery. They explained about the fabric, embroidery processes, the motif and the color combinations they use. They also showcased their collection for knowledge cum sales.
