The Bachelor's Degree in Game Design and Development at ICAT is a full-time program that prepares students to independently work through the entire pipeline of game development, starting from conceiving concepts to programming it.

The program combines the skills of Game Art, Game Design, and Game Development, widening the opportunities for the students. It provides an all-round knowledge from traditional art to digital art (2D & 3D), the various techniques employed in game art, the game design principles, and programming games for various platforms. The intense practice offered by the program helps students in seeking a vast career, be it as a 3D Game Artist, Level Designer, or Plugin/Tool Developer.

Semester - I
  • Language Practical (Tamil / Hindi / French) - I
  • Language Practical - English-I –Prose and Communication Skills
  • The module aims to provide clear knowledge on the design principles that must be followed by a Game Designer to design an industry-standard output.

  • The module kick starts with basic sketching practice and then travels through various art concepts to make the students develop concept arts for their game

  • Understanding the importance of prototyping, this module takes students through a complete journey of creating a game prototype

Semester - II
  • Language Practical (Tamil / Hindi / French) - II
  • Language Practical - English-II – Prose, Extensive Reading and Communications Skills
  • Game Programming calls for high logical reasoning and problem solving skills that are imparted in this module.

  • Enabling students to create digital assets for games is the aim of this module.

  • Environmental Studies
Semester - III
  • Language Practical – English - III - Communicative Skills
  • this module introduces students to a commonly-used game engine

  • The students gain clear understanding of 3D Geometry and 3D game asset creation pipeline.

  • The Web Game Development module introduces students to the custom game development methods available for Web.

Semester - IV
  • Language Practical - English – IV – Employability Skills
  • As an extension of the “3D Game Art” module, this teaches students to develop complex models and use advance texturing methods

  • Helping students to develop games that are playable in mobile devices and that have appropriate gameplay is the goal of this module.

  • Value Education
Semester - V
  • This module augments students’ knowledge on game engines by training them to learn and develop large-scale games with Unreal game engine.

  • This module teaches students to create 3D animations for games. The students get hands-on practice on various rigging and animation techniques.

  • This module introduces students to various Artificial Intelligence algorithms employed in games. Also, the module gives hands-on practice on various AI algorithms by using game engines.

  • Students will be trained and guided to develop a portfolio and other professional skills. They will go for an intern program in an organization through which they will develop as a profession
