Field visit to lalbagh 2022 from ICAT, Bangalore

On 18th March 2022, 16 students with 2 lecturers went for a trip to the Lal Bagh with the aim to do a nature study. Lalbagh Botanical Garden or Lalbagh is an old botanical garden in Bangalore, India. It has over 1,000 species of plants with many trees that are more than a hundred years old.

The trip started from ICAT Design and Media College at 11.00 am. 16 students from the BVA foundation, were accompanied by 2 lecturers. The students were assigned to do 2 watercolor nature studies and 3 nature study sketches. This experience helped students learn the colors and shapes of birds or flowers, observing the effects of light at different moments, or noticing the ways a landscape can change over time. As the first outdoor session for the first-year students, it helped them to start developing a new perspective on art as well as developing social and peer relationships. Field trips link the classroom experience with the outside world. In doing so they not only improve learning but also give both the learner and educator valued practical experience.

The Visit was a new experience for students which can help their development in various ways. It helped students for a visual experience in a particular way.
