Field Visit to IGDC 2022 from ICAT, Bangalore
ICAT Design and Media College offered the greatest opportunity for its students from the departments of Game Art and Design and Game Design and Development to participate in the largest and the most important developer conference in South Asia, IGDC – The Indian game developer conference. The event took place in Hyderabad on 3rd, 4th and 5th of November 2022. Interested students from both departments were taken, who were accompanied by a few teachers from the college. Students who participated in IGDC were offered very fresh, new, and innovative ideas through the several talk sessions, seminars, and workshops that happened. Seminars on Evaluating new game opportunities, Hypercasual Trends 2022, Designing systems for Strategy games, Programming Real-Time procedural audio for games in unity, Concept art for games: The thought process, Gaming as a narrative tool, and many more talks including workshops on how to visually express your artistic vision, What’s your story? all enhanced, intensified, and strengthened their understanding of this field of gaming. Students participated in different workshops as per their areas of interest that inculcated in them a desire to learn and experience the novelty in the field of gaming. The conference had a significant impact on the students making them understand the growth of the Indian gaming industry and developing new skills as well as connecting them with publishers, investors, masters, and experts of the gaming industry.
