Field trip to Idukki 2020 from ICAT, Bangalore
The department of Photography, ICAT Design and Media College, Bangalore organized a field trip to Idukki District in Kerala On 27th January 2020, which often is referred to as an excellent abode to hone the photographic skills of students of Photography.
Students were excited and enthusiastically took pictures of Anamudi the highest point in South India (8,842 ft) and home to the highest tea plantations in the world. They were also taken to the Idukki arch dam (only arch dam in India). All had a good time in capturing the essence of untouched beauty of Wild animals, birds, waterfalls, nature, tribal culture and landscape.
The trip was also to make them learn about outdoor lighting such as how to use natural light and how to measure outdoor guide value, shooting sunburst, use of filters ND, CPL & GND (Travel & Nature) Photography, using long exposure using ND Filters, Bouncing Light using reflector and defuse hard light into soft using diffuser, how to capture wildlife in action and sunset and sunrise. Another aspect was capturing the grandeur of architecture, Indoor Photography. During period of darkness the students spent time shooting star trails along with campfire. The trip provided ample opportunity in honing photographic skills, use of light and night photo shoots.
It was a memorable trip with loads of learning and leisure.
