Field Study to Shivanasamudra 2022 from ICAT, Bangalore

The Department of Photography ICAT Design and Media College Bangalore organized a study tour for 1st-year B.Sc Students to Shivanasamudra, on the 26th of September 2022 to learn the art of photographing nature and landscape. The students were filled with thrill to explore and experience this tour. Shivanasamudra is a place with 2 major waterfalls in karnataka near kollegal and the famous waterfalls are Gaganachukki and Barachukki waterfalls.

The entire purpose of the trip was to teach students about how to frame the subjects using various compositional rules, use of exposure triangle and maintain proper exposure in the images, use of exposure compensation over various modes of camera and long exposure shots. The students were instructed to shoot at the waterfalls view point area and get long exposure shots of the waterfalls along with maintaining the colors and light in the frame. The objective behind this project was to make them practice different shots with creation of interesting frames and use of the camera in manual mode.

Outdoor trips are ideal to give the students a perspective to think and create images out of the box. It was a memorable trip for the students as they were engaged in a Live shooting session from their faculties.
