Drishtikone 2021, Photography Exhibition @ ICAT, Chennai
World Photography Day is an annual international celebration of photography's science, history, art, and craft. The 19th of August is the day when people who have a love for photography gather together to promote awareness and share thoughts about the subject. Its roots can be traced back to 1837 when the Frenchmen Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce invented the first photography technique, the 'Daguerreotype.' This day honors the artistry and subtleties of photography, which have fascinated people for decades. We have seen many new ways of photography throughout the years due to technological developments, but the core stays the same.
This has been the most challenging year for any artist on the planet. COVID - 19 exposed the realities of loss and disorder, and our world was permanently altered, yet despite the volatility, the students and the institution united to overcome each hurdle and produce a diverse range of visual art. This year, through the virtual exhibition, ICAT Chennai is honoring not just the rich legacy of photography, but also the perseverance, courage, and, most significantly, the drive for greatness.
