Christmas Celebration 2014 @ ICAT, Chennai

Christmas is the season for caring, sharing and spreading joy! The Christmas celebrations at ICAT, Chennai epitomised this spirit. As part of the celebrations, the students of PG Advertising Design and PG Multimedia Technologies organized various events on 18th and 19th of December, 2014, in which the students from the other departments participated with great gusto.

On the 18th of December, the students organised a Treasure Hunt themed – “Santa gets kidnapped! Find the black sheep to find the treasure”. About 15 teams participated in the Treasure Hunt and the students of 1st year B.Sc. Media Technologies emerged as winners.

On the 19th of December, the students conducted a talent show in which the students were dancing, singing, and mimicking their favourite scenes from popular Tamil movies. This was followed by games like ‘Memory Game’, ‘Bindi around the Swirly’, ‘Transform to Santa’, ‘Eat the Oreo’ and so on. Finally, there was a dance off.

During the events, a miniature of the Santhome Basilica was displayed. It was sculpted by Mahabharthi, a student of B.Sc. MDT, by using thermocol. Mahabharthi has worked on it for over 5 days.

Following all these events, the final celebrations were conducted by the PG GMD, PG GDS and PG 3DA students on 22 December, 2014. This celebration started around 4.30 p.m. with fun events like Treasure Hunt, Cup Stacking, Musical Chair and Dance Show for the UG and PG students. During the celebration, the Santa Clause distributed chocolates to everyone and gifts to the winners of the events. The show came to an end by 6.15 p.m. with a cake cutting.

Overall, the students and the staff had a rollicking time and began the celebration of this festive season with great energy.
