Christmas Celebrations'21 @ ICAT, Bangalore

Christmas is the holy festival for followers of Christianity celebrated on 25th December every year by people from different communities across the globe. ICAT Design & Media College, Bangalore celebrated Christmas on 23rd December, 2021. Christmas means “Feast day of Christ” and it is known for its decoration of the Christmas tree, the beginning of the festive season and gifts by Santa Clause. It is a yearly celebration marking Jesus Christ’s birth anniversary. Christmas is a cultural festivity that entails a lot of preparations. The common preparations include decorations of the place with Christmas trees and lighting. The Christmas tree brings the Christmas spirit in homes. So, the college campus was decorated with Christmas trees, balloons, etc.

To begin the event Christmas Carols were sung by students. Then, the anchors to bring some fun to the event conducted a quiz to entertain the students and at the same time enlighten them with the knowledge. The quiz included some easy questions regarding the birthplace of Jesus and some fact- based questions such as "Why is the Christmas Cake named Plum Cake?" It was really enlightening to know that during the medieval age people used to call raisins as plum and that's the reason why it is called Plum Cake. After the fun session was over, students got the opportunity to showcase their talent. Some newcomers set the stage on fire with their melodious voices.

The cherry on the cake of this event was the arrival of Santa. Everyone got to meet the ‘Santa Claus’, dressed in a fluffy red and white costume, who greeted them with hugs and chocolates. To add more flavors to the event, the Plum Cake was bought and the respected Principal ma'am did the honor to cut it and distribute among the students. Then the students visited the food stalls set up for them to enjoy which included some desserts, chocolate and beverages. After the break was over the cultural event came alive with dance performances. The only thing that brings everyone together is dance. One group performed on some Christmas songs and then, students were asked randomly to come and perform on the song of their choice. The unplanned performances helped the students to pour their hearts out as dance is the translator for our hearts. After the dance performances were over, the DJ music was played for the students to enjoy and that is how the event concluded with a smile on everyone's face.
