9th UG Convocation Ceremony 2018 from ICAT, Chennai

One of the most important days of a student’s life, Convocation Day, recognizing the academic journey that has transformed a student into a graduate, striving to take over life, came to the students of ICAT Design and Media College, Chennai on 17 February, 2018.

The young graduates ready to go out with all the potential skills they have learnt, to uplift and acquire a niche space for themselves in this big creative industry, assembled at 3 pm at Hablis Hotel, Guindy, Chennai. There were 108 students ready to take their graduation degree in different design related fields like Animation, Visual Effects, Game Art and Design, Photography, Advertising, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Game Development, and Game Design and Development. Our cheerful students, chief guests, Marlene Little and Rob Gibbs, along with our beloved Founder & Managing Director Mr. Kumar were clad in royal academic gowns to grace the 9th Under Graduate Convocation ceremony. Proud parents, supportive faculty and other academic staff were also present to cheer the students.

The Welcome and Presidential Address by Mr. Kumar was inspiring and was an eye-opener to all present there. He started off by giving us an idea of how big the design industry globally is and how many different new opportunities are coming up in design. He encouraged all the young talents seated to take up jobs to know the industry better and then after a few years move on to be independent or entrepreneurs. His words, “Life is a design and design is everywhere; students must have goals to achieve and always aim for more” was highly inspiring.

Marlene Little, Course Director, BA (Hons) Textile, Birmingham City University, in her brief speech to the students appreciated parents for supporting the students in their time of study and congratulated all the students present. Robert Gibb, Course Director, MA Visual Communication, Birmingham City University, also added to the tremendous scope of the Design industry and about the highly-paid jobs that are available. He asked for a special applauds for the students and their parents present.

Alumni student, Shreedev from Game Department shared gratitude and a short speech on his wonderful journey in the College and how the faculty and his batchmates has contributed to his amazing experience during the three years at ICAT Design and Media College.

The students were awarded their degrees and certificates among huge applauds. And finally came the best part of the graduation ceremony, the photography session that captured all happy faces of the students along with the chief guest and faculty to hold back the beautiful memories in the hearts and minds of all.
