2nd Under Graduate Convocation Ceremony 2011 @ ICAT, Chennai
The convocation began with the 'lamp lighting ceremony' by the chief guest Padma shri. ThottaTharani, Professor. Sion Hughes (University of Wales), Mr. Kumar (CEO), Mr. Natrajan (CAO), Mrs. Shaswatii (Academic Head) .The lamp gave light to the evening ceremony.
A lot of hard work and dedication at all levels has gone into bringing this day to completion .Among the Graduates are those who have taken pride of place and will be conferred Awards in recognition of their efforts. This marks another milestone in the annals of ICAT.
5th of February 2011 Saturday was a momentous occasion for the 2007 Undergraduate students of ICAT. They become the 2nd Batch of students for the college to graduate. The college has been providing holistic education in various Digital Media disciplines. The occasion was graced by Padma shri. Thotta Tharani, a renowned Art Director in Indian cinema was the Guest of Honour along with Professor Sion Hughes who is a moderator and guide from University of Wales, UK, Mr. Kumar - Founder & Managing Director of IMAGE Group and Mr.Natrajan Chief academic officer of ICAT
Delivering the welcome address Padma shri. ThottaTharani, thanked the graduating students for their contribution towards enriching the academic and the community environment of the campus.
Mr. Kumar - Founder & Managing Director of IMAGE Group, in his felicitation address during the convocation that the college takes an immense pleasure in stating that ICAT is the only digital media college in India with 78 students graduating this year in the specific fields like Animation, Visual effects, game design and game development. The college is also consistently increasing its technical l collaborations and entering into agreements with different Universities like VIT.
The highlight of the event was the distribution of Gold Medals by Padma shri. ThottaTharani, to student Philip Riche Mathew and Jishnu of 3D Animation department, Bilal Sikkandar of Visual Effects department and Sriram Ganesh of Game department for their Academic excellence, followed by the distributing the degrees to Seventy eight graduates from different disciplines like Visual effects, 3D Animation, Game Design, and Game Development for their B.A (Hons) Digital Media.
The convocation was in high-spirits with caps flying as elated students were awarded their Degree certificates in the presence of the teachers, directors and parents. The ceremony came to end with vote of thanks and students rejoicing with grand feast.
It was indeed an exciting opportunity for all to reunite and relive the memorable moments of the most exciting and crucial three years of the students' lives that they had spent at ICAT.
