Course Overview
Practice the Technical Outlook of Photography
The students experience the different genres of photography through photo tours, photo walks, photo talks, workshops, and hands-on experience in studios with different camera equipment, lights and light modifiers, and post-production software that are best in the industry. The module starts with the basics of photography, camera handling, colour psychology and photo aesthetics and travels through lighting techniques, digital image-editing and so on. This gradual learning helps every novice learner to easily accustom with the module and gain maximum knowledge from the lessons. With all the skills built in the module, the students are assured to gain specialist careers of their passion.
This 3-year module built with the guidance of various industry experts focuses on providing specialised training with exposure to real-time industry techniques. The module is packed with practical sessions, in-class training, industry visits, professional seminars / workshops, showcase events to seek feedback from industry professionals and individual / collaborative projects. The students also take up internships at different organisations to gain real-time experience and develop their final project to demonstrate their specialist skills that will be the evidence of their expertise to potential clients.

Why Study Photography at ICAT?
This module is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the art and technique of photography. The module will cover the history of photography, the principles of composition, and the technical aspects of camera operation. Students will learn how to use a camera to create compelling images, how to edit and manipulate digital images, and how to present their work in a professional manner. The module will also explore the role of photography in contemporary art and culture. Students will have the opportunity to develop their own photographic style and to create a portfolio of their work.
