Convocation Ceremony 2016 from All ICAT Campus

A convocation program for ICAT’s fresh graduates of degree courses validated by Birmingham City University & University of Wales was organized on 14 May, 2016, at Hotel Fortune JP Cosmos, Cunningham Cross Rd, Bengaluru.

The objective was to celebrate the students who have successfully met the academic and extracurricular requirements for graduation. The ceremony provided a public venue, where the graduating students received their diplomas and made up to meet their old friends.

The flame of a lamp always burns upwards and similarly one should acquire such knowledge that takes us towards higher ideals. The ceremony kick started with lighting of lamp by our distinguished guests, Prof. Aftab Gharda, Prof. Panch Suntharlingam, our Founder & Managing Director Mr. Kumar, Chief Technical Officer Mr. Anand and the Academic Head Mrs. Shaswati.

Then, Ms. Varsha Shelar, RAO, ICAT Bengaluru gave the Welcome Address. Followed by this, Mr. Kumar addressed the students, during which he insisted on the importance of having the right attitude and staying with an employment for a longer duration to have better growth in the long run. He further motivated the students to plant trees in their surroundings.

Then, Prof. Aftab Gharda, the Academic Co-ordinator of Coventry University & Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Graphic Designer by profession, motivated the students by sharing his valuable professional experience and his path to the success.

Dr. Panch Suntharalingam, who gained his PhD from Birmingham City University, Masters from the University of Birmingham and a B.Sc. (Hons) Engineering degree from Middlesex University, is a trained Design Engineer and Computer Scientist. He has published many papers, including the well-known opening title sequences featured on BBC and ITV networks like 'Top Gear'. He addressed our students by insisting upon the need to stay abridged with latest trends and technology, and to develop managerial skills. He further insisted that being a leader is the only way to bring about the change we want in the industry.

As crowning moments of the ceremony, the 107 graduates from Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad were handed over their respective awards in the programmes of BA (Hons) Communication Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design and BA (Hons) Digital media Animation, Game Design and Game Development. The graduates delivered their graduation speech, thanking everyone who made their achievement possible. Two graduates, Varun Kanwar and Manikanndan were awarded gold medal for their academic excellence. Both the students are pursuing their masters in aboard.

The program was concluded with Vote of Thanks from Mr. Rajeev, Award Leader - Visual Effects, followed by photo sessions and refreshments.

The event was a memorable one with inspiring messages from our guests and our honorees.
